The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is conducting Level I courses for umpires at the state level to monitor their performance and handle the process through which they are inducted into national panel.
"Earlier, member associations would have their own exams for umpires and then recommend names for the BCCI panel," Stanley Saldanha, manager, game development, BCCI, told HT at the end of a course here on Thursday.
"To make the process more transparent, BCCI has introduced this programme. We got 24 of our top umpires trained by Cricket Australia and they will go to every member association and affiliated unit to conduct the courses," he said.At all levels, the umpires' performance will be monitored, both through a peer review system and directly by the BCCI. The system will be introduced from next season.
Also second one day match between India and West Indies will be played today. India had already won the first one day match but I am sure today's match will be tough for team India to win.
